I’ve been busy working on a wedding and a senior session for you guys to see, but I have to take a break today…because it’s my son’s birthday!  Breckin (aka: Mr. Bean) is 1 today.  It seems silly to tell you how much I love him.  He’s my son!  Of course I love him.  But I really do.  I love that his favorite game is peek-a-boo.  I love that he has his dad’s eyes and his mom’s nose.  I love that his ears stick out the perfect amount from his head.  I love that his hair always stands straight up.  I could go on and on and on.  As a beginning teacher, it was no secret that I often struggled with boy students and discipline.  There might have been one or 2 girls who were a challenge, but really, it was always the boys in those first years.  I struggled to no end with the usual suspects, the class clowns…you know the type.  So, when I got the news that I was going to have a boy…I was worried.  I was worried that my son would be one of those boys…the kind that is popular, outgoing, a little bit of trouble, and tough to discipline.  I think it’s safe to say that this little guy probably is going to be all of those things, but I think it makes me love him more.

Happy birthday, Mr. Bean!  Your family loves you SO much.

If you’d like to tell Breckin happy birthday, leave a comment.  I’ll be sure to pass along the message!  :)

I’m a little behind on blogging, and can’t wait to show you some of the images I’ve made in the last week.  However, with my daughter’s 3rd birthday coming up, my own children are at the front of my mind!  I wanted to share these two from our trip to the playground the other day.  The weather here has been beautiful!

Also, don’t forget that the deadline for submitting your nomination for the 2010 Free Colorado Springs Wedding Photography is April 1st!  Get a reminder about the rules here.  My next post will have Shawnte’s BabyBump update!  Stay tuned!

You may remember Avery from her mom’s maternity portraits, or from her newborn portraits.  It’s a funny thing about kids…you have to keep a very close eye on them, because if you even so much as blink, when you open your eyes they’ll be SO BIG!  It has been so much fun to watch Avery grow into toddler-hood.  She’s a very fun, sweet, spunky, and energetic little girl (and adorable, but that much is obvious).  In fact, she’s so sweet, that when I was trying to catch her playing in her natural element, she kept trying to sit in my lap and have me read her a story.  I’m sure she was very confused by my big camera, as usually when we’re together it’s with my 2 little ones, and she gets to play play play!

After we took some pictures indoors, Avery was all too excited to head to the park.  She got all bundled up (but saved time for some loving on daddy), and the 4 of us headed out.  It was a little colder than we were prepared for, hence poor Avery’s watery eyes!  It looks like she might have been crying, but that was not even close to the case.  The cold didn’t bother her one bit, and she was ecstatic to be at the park!  Once she saw the slide, there was no keeping her from it!  She ran, with no fear, to the equipment and slid down the biggest slide she could find.

I had such a fun time photographing this little girl!  She is definitely one of my favorites.  Her parents are pretty cool too!  It doesn’t seem possible that she is almost a year and a half old, but then again, I think kids are their own sort of time warp.  Once they come along, life seems to move at least twice as fast!

Thanks again, Brooke and Scott!  I’m glad you love your pictures!  :)

So, after much deliberation, I decided to make the jump to a blog-site.  What’s a blog-site you ask?  It’s a website that combines normal website-ness with the ease of use and functionality of a blog.  I was wanting the two to exist in one place, so my wonderful (and incredibly smart) husband helped me all weekend to develop what you are seeing.  While I’m not considering it the “finished product”, I’m very pleased with the result.  I’ll definitely keep the format, but I’m already working to change the appearance.  I really like that you’ll get to see my most current work as soon as you come to my website.  Also, all the old stuff from the old website is still here, under the gallery link.  I really like that too.   :)

Now that the really hard stuff is done for the blog-site, I’ll be busy working on Avery’s (a little late) 1 year portraits.  And, because it’s not really fair to introduce a shoot without photo documentation, here’s just a little teaser of this awesome little girl’s portrait session.  I feel so lucky to know my friend Brooke.  Avery and my daughter, Reagan, play together so well, and it’s so much fun to have another Mom friend.  I suppose I’ll have more time to tell you more about Avery in my next post, so I suppose I’ll save some gushing for then.  But seriously, as you can see, this is one sweet little girl!

I absolutely love shooting families when the kids don’t mind loving on each other a little. It’s for that reason that I had such a great time shooting Jeff and Sara’s kiddos! The kids are gorgeous, and it was so nice to get to photograph them in a place they love to be: their very own back yard.  Whichever picture they pick, they are sure to have some fabulous Christmas cards!  If you and your family would like your Christmas cards to stand out this year, give me a call!
Thanks so much, Sara and Jeff!  blog_DSC5162

For those of you who don’t already know, my husband and I welcomed a new addition to our family last month.
I’ve been busy creating a birth announcement for the little guy, and it’s finally finished! breckin copy

I was very excited and flattered when Ashley asked me to take pictures of her family!  She has 2 adorable daughters, and it’s clear that she and Danny are very much in love!  Thanks Ashley!dsc_0231

It’s so interesting how things work out.

Brooke, my friend whose maternity pictures I took, and I debated waiting one week to do her maternity pictures.  Then, we decided to go ahead and tough it out and get it done that Thursday.  It’s a good thing–she was in labor the following Tuesday!

Avery is so cute, and was just about a month old when these pictures were taken.  I was excited to have the opportunity to use my minimal studio equipment.  It doesn’t get taken out much, largely due to the beautiful state in which I live.
