I’m extra overdue on blogging, so I’ll keep this short and sweet.

Garrett Fritzsche is the last of my senior reps for the class of 2012. He goes to Palmer Ridge High School in Monument.  I got up early and met up with Garrett for sunrise. I know I’ve said it before…I’m totally not a morning person, but when you get light like this it’s worth every second.  It was also fun to learn that Garrett and I have a connection. I went to high school with 2 of his cousins!

Jen had a vision of a barn, so I instantly thought of Rock Ledge Ranch.  It’s an awesome area that feels very “Colorado” without being overdone.

We had an absolutely gorgeous day for Jen’s shoot. The light was stunning and unbelievable at times…I was doing happy dances right and left!

Jennifer is a cheerleader, so of course I had to put together a series of her jumping.  So fun! And what a perfect smile she has at the top  of her jump!

Jen, best of luck to you in your senior year! Make the most of it…it goes quickly! I wish you the best of luck.

I really loved photographing Amanda and Chris’s wedding. These two are so very much in love.  Truly, as cliche as it sounds, they really do complete one another.  Their families were very kind, and treated me as one of their own!

Amanda had initially planned to have her dress hand made.  However, when she had a problem with the way the dress was coming out, she was forced to purchase something off the rack within just a few weeks of her big day.  She found this one at a department store, and it fit her like a glove. Just a few simple alterations to make it a bit more wedding-ish, and voila!  She was truly beautiful…and I loved that I caught her spinning like a giddy little girl at her reception.

Amanda and Chris, thank you so very much! I loved getting to be a part of your day.

Meet Amanda. I met her when she was just a freshman.  A typical 14 year old, she was still trying to figure things out.  But she knew one thing for sure: she was passionate about soccer.  She was crazy over the fact that, at the time, her high school didn’t have a soccer team.  She managed cross country (I coached), and I think every time I was around her, she was talking about soccer.  Or people she knew from soccer.  She was truly crazy about soccer.

Fast forward 3 years, and Amanda will be a senior this year.  While she still loves soccer every bit as much, it was truly a pleasure to see how much she has grown into a mature, intelligent, and determined young woman.  To say that she’s blossomed is an understatement.

Amanda brought along her 3 most treasured possessions: her teddy bear that she’s owned since she was 6 months old (he goes with her everywhere), her soccer cleats, and her stethoscope.  When I asked Amanda if she was going to school to be a nurse, she sighed, “No. I’m going to be a doctor. A cardiologist,” she said while she swung her stethoscope in the wind.  See. I told you she was sure of herself.

Amanda, I loved getting to spend a little time with you again. You’ve always been pretty, but now you’ve really become such a beautiful young woman. I always thought you’d have a bright future ahead of you…but now I’m sure of it.  Thanks so much for being a rep this year!

Meet Kauna. She is one of my four senior reps this year. She goes to AAHS, and is quite the athlete. She’s busy with school activities this summer, but she took time out to let me take her senior pictures. We had such a great time getting to know each other!

Kauna is hoping to go to school in California next year, and she’s an aspiring photographer herself.  It’s always an honor to photograph people, but it’s especially exciting when they understand and value the art of photography.

Which of Kauna’s shots was my favorite? Between these two it’s too hard to pick.  Kauna, you’re just SO beautiful!

Kauna has been dancing hula for quite some time, and she even humored me by dancing…in the middle of the park. Thanks girl!

Amanda, as you can see is a gorgeous red head.  Photographing red heads is always fun, and Amanda was no exception.  She’s just…beautiful!  Her dad just returned from a tour in overseas.  After not seeing his little girl for a year, I know he was probably feeling more than a little worried about seeing this beautiful young woman who was about to go off to college.

Not to worry though; Amanda has always been such a joy, and largely because of him and her mother, she has a great head on her shoulders…and I don’t just mean her hair.

Amanda had another year of straight A’s in her classes, and she’s sure to do great things. I know this, because she’s an up-and-coming photographer herself!  She was also a student in my World History class a few years back.  She’s even smarter now than she was then, which is really saying something.  Maybe in a couple of years she’ll be able to return the favor for me.

Before Amanda’s shoot, I had pre-visualized showing off Amanda’s awesome hair in a more creative way than usual.  When we came upon this open field, I figured it’d be perfect to have her spin…like the free spirt she is. I was quite pleased with the result.

Amanda, I’m so glad we finally figured out a time to get together for your pictures!!  You’re so stunningly beautiful…I can’t wait to see what you do with yourself and your many talents.  The world is truly yours for the taking.

I got to spend part of the early evening with Gary at Garden of the Gods.  He tried to pull the typical high school boy stiffness at first, but soon relaxed.

Gary, I hope you enjoyed yourself at least a little, and congratulations on your graduation!

After several facebook chat conversations, I shared an idea that had kind of been forming in the back of my mind.  A commercial for Lamb Photography Company.  I don’t really do much advertising, but my “about me” page just didn’t quite measure up to what I wanted people who didn’t know me to see about me.  So, Kyle came along on this past weekend’s engagement shoot in Denver and did another amazing job.

So, thanks to Kyle Koziol of Kozi Visuals, I give you the Lamb Photography Company commercial.  That’s right, a commercial. For me. Huge thanks to Anna and Tim, who you’ll see more of when I blog their engagement shoot.  And of course, to Kyle for being so inspirational, and helping me keep my cool.  I really spend all my time behind the camera, so this whole idea was kind of unnerving for me.  During the part where I was shooting Anna and Tim, I didn’t even know he was there.  See? I told you he was quality.  :)

Since I started my business photographing seniors, this is one of my favorite types of assignments.  Not to mention, I recently left my career as a high school social studies teacher, so I’m needing some student time.

Lucky for me, it’s time to recruit some new senior reps!  Here’s the scoop:

I’m offering all 2011 graduates a cap and gown mini-session!

What’s a mini-session you ask?  You get 30 minutes of time with me and my camera in your cap and gown for graduation.  To simplify things, the mini-sessions will only take place in Monument Valley Park, because it’s always beautiful there.

The cost for each mini-session is $75, which you’ll of course get to use as a credit to buy whatever prints you’d like.

Mini-sessions will be taken on a first come, first served basis.  Call me soon because I’ll only do 7 of them!

First, meet Megan.  She’s a senior at Falcon High School.  We had a mix up on the time we were meeting, but it worked out perfectly.  Megan was a rock star at being photographed, and we had AMAZING light to work with for about an hour.  Usually my shoots are up to 2 hours, and I was nervous at first.  But Megan is a total natural in front of the camera, so we were able to get some awesome shots while the light was peaked.  Thanks Megan!  I had a blast with you!

Next up is Dylan, a senior at Ellicott High School.  I know Dylan’s family through Katie and Brian.  Dylan has been through and survived a LOT in his life, so I was excited to have the opportunity to photograph him.  He was super polite the entire time, and hung in there a lot longer than his mom and I thought he would.  Thanks to you and your Fam, Dylan!

Last but not least is Jessica.  Jessica is a senior at Fountain-Fort Carson High School.  She found me online, which is super exciting for me.  I love getting to meet totally new people…and it is an extra bonus when they’re as fun as Jessica!  Thanks so much Jessica, and best of luck to you.  I know you’ll be an awesome graphic designer.  :)

The light in this doorway was absolutely to die for…

About 3 weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting beautiful Lorena.  In a day and age when many people take a high school diploma completely for granted, it was awesome to meet her.  She’s the first person in 3 generations to graduate from High School.  Her family is so proud of her, and rightfully so.  :)  As you can see she’s completely gorgeous, and the camera absolutely loved her.

Lorena is very quiet (although I’m sure that changes once you get to know her), so it was very helpful to have her mom and her best friend Arturo come along with her to help me find her beautiful smile.

Thanks so much, Lorena!  I wish you the best in all you do.

As always, I had a wonderful time with Mary-Catherine and her family.  Mary-Catherine is a senior at Falcon this year, and I must say she was very easy to photograph.  Her mom commented at one point that she couldn’t believe that Mary-Catherine was always ready with a quick, warm smile.

Mary-Catherine’s older brother was here from Canada, and the little sister in me loved that she wanted to incorporate him and her younger brother into her pictures.  So we started with the 3 of them, and then moved on to her senior portraits.

I was excited for the chance to get to have some fun with some off camera lighting.

I had a wonderful time photographing and getting to know Diva a little bit when we went to Fox Run Park a couple of weekends ago for her senior pictures.   From what I understand, Diva is a pretty awesome basketball player, and is hoping to play when she goes to college next year.

When I think of Diva I will think of how easy it was to make her laugh.  I mean, I know I’m hilarious and all, but it was fun to spend a couple hours with such a happy girl.  :)
