Colorado Springs Wedding Photographer | Rachel and Jordan’s Buena Vista Proposal

I was so excited when my husband’s cousin-by-marriage, Ashley, emailed to say that we could stay with them for a wedding I was doing in Buena Vista. But then, Ashley asked me if I might be able to do their family pictures.  Awesome! But, that wasn’t even the best part. She went on to say that my husband’s other cousin, Rachel was going to be getting engaged that very weekend, and wondered if I would be able to capture the moment for her and her boyfriend, Jordan. I was so excited, I don’t think I slept for days…and certainly not the night before the proposal. To say that I was ecstatic would be an understatement!!!  There aren’t words.:)

I had so much fun photographing Jordan’s surprise proposal to Rachel that I decided I wanted to do it again…and again and again and again!:)So, now through Valentine’s day, if you’re a guy looking to propose to the special lady in your life, I’ll be doing FREE proposal sessions! Call me for details, and I’ll even help you hatch a plan. Don’t worry-she won’t suspect a thing!

Colorado Springs Senior Photographer | Sydnee @ Her Backyard

It’s always fun and challenging to shoot in a new place. I was thrilled when Sydnee’s mom asked if we could do her shoot in their back yard. She said she had a fountain, and I said, sure!:)But, I wasn’t prepared for how beautifully landscaped it would be. It was wonderful, and we got perfect morning light for her shoot.

I love Sydnee’s feathers! They’re such a fun pop of color.

Thanks, Sydnee! Enjoy your senior year…it’s a fun one!:)

Colorado Mountain Wedding Photographer | Liz & Brian @ The Summit of Pikes Peak

I’ve been so excited to share this wedding with you! But, I’ve been extremely busy…which is AWESOME!

Liz and Brian were married in one of the most unusual places I’ve ever even heard about having a wedding. At the top of Colorado Springs’ Pikes Peak! True story: they even broke the record for the number of guests in attendance. The wedding went off without a hitch. We were all a little worried that someone might get altitude sickness, but everyone did great, even their beautiful Rottweiler, Hass.

Liz planned a simple, country themed wedding. Her dress was perfect and came from J.Crew, which was exciting because I didn’t even know that they made wedding gowns.

Liz and her dad (and I) rode to the top of the Peak on the Cog Railway. I was THRILLED for this opportunity. I have lived in or around Colorado Springs my entire life, except for 4 years of college, and had never ridden the railway. Liz was gorgeous, and everyone made quite a fuss about her. Who could blame them??

If you watch Matt Meister regularly, you might recognize this next photo. I sent it to him the day of the wedding so he could see the pretty white clouds up on the summit. He was nice enough to put it on the air!:)

After the ceremony, we stopped at Crystal Lake for a few portraits. The weather all day, including at the top of the Peak, was gorgeous. Absolutely picture perfect. Period.

Liz and Brian had their reception at Liz’s aunt’s mansion house. Believe me, blogosphere. It. was. beyond. gorgeous.

Liz, Brian, and Hass, thank you so much for letting me be involved in your special day! I loved getting to know you guys, and had so much fun with you! And since Hass was such a courteous back seat mate (he only licked me a few times), I had to include one picture of his handsomeness. He’s…awesome, and I love him. But don’t tell my dog Scout. She’d be horribly jealous.:)

Colorado Springs Senior Photographer | Taylor @ Fox Run Park

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Taylor. She was completely adorable, sweet, and tons of fun. A little goofy…but lots of fun.:)

Taylor plays soccer, and we enjoyed our time together. She brought her parents along, which was lucky because it turns out her dad cracks her up.

Taylor’s eyes are GORGEOUS!! Don’t believe me? See for yourself!

Taylor, thanks so much! I had a blast with you!  Enjoy your senior year. It goes so fast!

Colorado Springs Photographer | World Photography Day

I learned this morning by reading Jasmine Star‘s blog post that today was World Photography Day. Since Jasmine is someone that I find inspiring, I decided that I would have to follow her lead and be sure I took the time to photograph my two favorite little subjects. I always knew I wanted to have children. Maybe it was always longing for a younger sibling when I was growing up (Mom and Dad mad it quite clear very early on that all the nagging in the world would NOT make that happen), but I knew that I would want children. But I spent a LOT of time focusing on “what I wanted to be when I grew up”. Truth be told, I spent a lot of money on it too. Shoot, I’m STILL spending a lot of money on that. But, as soon as I met my daughter, I knew, I just knew that my priorities had completely changed. Just. Like. That. Reagan has taught me more than any schooling or studying I could do ever has. And for that I am grateful. From her I am learning real patience. Not the kind where you just patiently wait for Christmas. But the kind where you answer for the millionth time that day how many sleeps until the next birthday party. The kind that makes you fight yourself to keep from holding her hand while she writes her name, because you know it’s best for her to do it herself. And love. Of course, I had loved before Reagan, but she taught me something new. The kind of love that would make you throw yourself into harms way if it meant it might make one second a little easier for her. She is truly special.

But, despite what she thinks, life in the Lamb house doesn’t revolve around Reagan. Breckin brings a light to my life that I never thought would be there. In fact, knowing him has shown me men in a whole new light. Deep down, I was pretty terrified when I found out I was having a boy. I struggled with a lot of male students when I was teaching…and I never understood why. But Breckin makes me see the tender nature of a boy’s heart that he keeps so hidden from the world. While I know the world will harden him, I hope that he keeps his sweet, thoughtful (he picks me flowers almost every day), tender nature as he grows into an adult. He will make a girl very happy someday.

Jasmine Star photographed her favorite subject, so I thought it would be appropriate to photograph mine.

Awesome post. I too, took pictures of my favorite subject today, my Zoe. And I so know what you mean about what our kids teach us. Before Zoe, I would have rolled my eyes and gagged a little atbwhat you wrote. Because I didn’t get it. I didn’t understand what having a child does to you. How being a mom changes you. Completely. I’m so happy I met you! And I love the picture!
